In a change up from news about Dmitri Hvorostovsky and his illness, the singer posted a video of his recent concert at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moskva, Russia. The entire recital can be viewed online and features performances of Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky and more.
Mr. Hvorostovsky has been undergoing treatment in London for a brain tumor. Though he was able to perform at the Helikon Opera's opening gala, he has cancelled his forthcoming engagements at the Metropolitan Opera.
Awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky by Russian president Vladimir Putin, the Russian baritone had to withdraw from playing the Count di Luna in Verdi's classic Il Trovatore.
An exceptional artist, his most recent concert at the Tchaikovsky concert hall was an astounding tribute to his longevity as one of the world's premier opera singers.
Despite a most unfortunate diagnosis, Hvorostovsky has maintained a certain optimism and decorum when faced with tragedy. Which is why his latest video is worth the watch. Check out the performance here and take a look at the program below, too.
