'SNL's' Andy Samberg's New Show 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Gets Full Season, Airs After Super Bowl

Saturday Night Live alumni Andy Samberg's new Fox cop comdedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has been given the order for a full season. The network has so much faith in the new ensemble series, that they are going to air it during the highly sought after post-Super Bowl time slot.

Starter series are normally given a shorter first season, consisting of 13 episodes. If a show does well then the networks can opt to pick up the remaining episodes, known as the "back nine," for a total of 22 episodes. Fox' Brooklyn Nine-Nine is getting the back nine. USA Today is reporting that Fox chairman Kevin Reilly, made the announcement:

"It's exciting to see that both critics and fans love Brooklyn Nine-Nine as much as we do."

He went on to predict a second season for the freshmen cop comedy, adding:

"With Andy and Andre out in front of this incredible ensemble, it feels like this show is going to be around for a long time."

Fox is so confident in its new series that its giving the show the highly sought after post-Super Bowl time slot, followed by The New Girl.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has received a modest average of around five million viewers but jumps up to an inpressive 14 million,. after streaming and dvr services are added.

Fox previously announced that it was renewing the new supernatural thriller, Sleepy Hollow, for a second season. However, the super successful drama was not given a full season order because the returning thriller The Following, starring Kevin Bacon, was already scheduled for its time slot this spring.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine stars Andy Samberg, and Andre Braugher, alongside Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Chelsea Peretti and Stephanie Beatriz. The series airs Tuesday nights on Fox. You can catch up on the series on Hulu Plus.
