The Dr.Who 50th anniversary special is almost here and a new trailer for the "Day of the Doctor" has officially been released. The upcoming special episode will focus on all of the previous 11 Doctors, before the new Doctor appears in the 2013 Christmas special.
In the highly anticipated Dr. Who 50 anniversary special, "The Day of the Doctor," fans get one last trip through time with Matt Smith. The 11th Doctor will be handing over the key to the Tardis to Doctor # 12, Peter Capaldi, in the upcoming 2013 Christmas special. The special will also look back on the other ten docs. BBC recently released a new trailer featureing many of the past Doctors, as well as a photo of numbers 1-11, captioned:
"Doctor Who, the First Doctor (William Hartnell), the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton), the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee), the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker), the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison), the Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker), the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy), the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann), the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston), the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) and the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith)."
Its not just still images and stand ins for the older Doctors being featured. Doctor number ten, David Tennant, will also appear. The network adds:
"'The Day of the Doctor' stars Matt Smith (How to Catch a Monster), David Tennant (Broadchurch), Jenna Coleman (Dancing on the Edge), with Billie Piper (Secret Diary of a Call Girl) and John Hurt (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Alien). This is the first time David Tennant and Billie Piper have appeared in the series since their farewells in 2010. The special will be a celebration for long-time fans and an opportunity for those new to the series to jump onboard. 'The Day of the Doctor' premieres Saturday, November 23, 2013."
Matt Smith left a pre-recorded message for the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi, upon the announcement of his casting:
"I wish my successor all the best and say good luck and good on you for getting it, because I know he's both a huge fan of the show and a really nice guy. The casting made me ready excited and as a fan I think it's a canny choice. If I had to pick someone, I'd pick him because I think he's great. I'm excited because I know what's coming and he's going to have a blast."
November, 23 is "The Day of The Doctor."
