Bravo’s hit show Project Runway concluded it’s 12th season on Thursday night, and that means that the 2013 winner has been revealed. The result of the finale, however, may shock you. SPOILER WARNING
Congratulations are in order for Dom Streater. The 24-year-old resident of Philadelphia took home the top spot in the designing competition, as well as the $500,000 prize.
In case you missed it, E! News has you covered. The gossip site offered the following description of last night’s season finale:
“Dom's ‘Retro Redux’ collection, which she called her ‘view of the future, borrowing from the past,’ wowed the judges. (She took a risk by being the only designer the showcase a bathing suit on the runway, which Posen didn't care for.) Washington and Klum in particular seemed completely enamored with Dom's use of print. Coming in second was Alexandria, with Justin, the first recipient of mentor Tim Gunn's save earlier in the season, coming in third and Bradon placing fourth.”
After winning the competition, Dom sat down with The Hollywood Reporter and discussed what her experience was like. When asked what she was thinking during the final moments of judging, Dom responded:
“I knew I really wanted to win, and there was just so much anxiety and excitement wrapped up into one moment. I'm not even sure my brain processed what was happening. It was very nerve-racking, and I just can't even describe how I felt. Waiting to hear Heidi say whether I won or didn't win, it was just an insane, intense feeling.”
Throughout the entire season, it was Dom who seemed the most humble and encouraging to her fellow competitors. Even after being crowned the champion, she had kind things to say about the competition:
“At the finale, I thought Justin was my biggest competitor. He makes really great clothing -- incredible, modern clothes that look great on most women, and I thought they were so beautiful. He had a great show.”
