Season 6 of 'Glee' is Its Last, Show Ending Next Year After Cory Monteith's Tragic Death

The producers of 'Glee' scrambled to get ready for this latest season, after the tragic death of actor Cory Monteith. Now it has been revealed that Monteith's passing has changed the entire ending of the series. Show creator Ryan Murphy recently revealed that he is having to re-imagine the series finale. Murphy also confirmed that the show will be ending after next year's sixth season.

TVline is reporting that, while at a Paley Center event honoring FX, Glee and American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy announced that next year's season will be the last of the hit musical comedy. Murphy also added that, after the tragic death of actor Cory Monteith--who played one of the show's leads, Finn Hudson--he was having to replan the whole series' endgame, saying:

“The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn’s story. I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was – he was in it. I knew what the last line was – she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now. I have a good idea. I’m going to tell the studio and the network [in a week] how after Cory’s unfortunate passing we can end the show that I think is very satisfactory. And kind of in his honor, which I love.”

Murphy recently spoke with The Wrap about filming the heart wrenching farewell to Finn tribute episode,"The Quarterback":

"Almost everything in that episode is from the first take of every performance, because the actors and the crew had a really hard time shooting it. I've never seen a crew where you can't continue shooting because they left the room sobbing. It was very hard, and I struggled even working on it, because you're seeing what they felt about not just Finn, but Cory. So I think it's amazing performances across the board, and everybody went into it with a lot of love."
