Finally, Miley Cyrus is getting some good press. Her new 2013 album, Bangerz, debuted at number one on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Maybe this recent announcement will distract the twerkaholic from her recent high-profile split from ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth.
We’ve seen her ride a wrecking ball (NAKED) and twerk like her life depended on it on national television, and now it all seems worth it. Her album has officially received number one status by Billboard, based on its first week of sales.
While the record did achieve the coveted top spot, it failed to truly wow when compared to other 2013 records. This is especially true when it comes to Justin Timberlake, whose recent release saw nearly a million purchases in its first week.
Still, with 274,000 albums sold, it more than doubled the opening week numbers of her last studio release. But was it worth it?
Cyrus has been accused of adopting a radically different lifestyle--one filled with hyper-sexuality, odd haircuts and transforming into a virtual one-woman twerknado--in order to increase buzz, at a time when album sales continue to plummet.
This erratic behavior also seems to have cost her a relationship with one of Hollywood’s hottest leading men, Liam Hemsworth. The two were engaged for quite some time before calling it quits a few weeks back.
To her credit, Miley seems to be really enjoying life as a single woman. Just how single she is, however, is up for discussion. Numerous media outlets, including OK! Magazine, have reported that she is dating producer Mike WiLL Made It, quoting a source as revealing:
“Right now she’s in the market for a new guy and has been flirting up a storm with a number of cute guys...She’s hooked up with [Mike] a few times. Friends are warning her not to get too close, because it will only end in tears. Mike’s a total playboy and one of the worst people Miley could pick for a rebound.”
