Kris Humphries recently sold Kim Kardashian’s engagement ring at an auction. The KUWTK star’s jewelry fetched an amazing sum of money. According to numerous tabloids’ reports, it was Nori West’s father, Kanye, who insisted that Kim return the ring to Kris.
At a Christie’s auction held earlier in the day, Kim’s old ring sold for an impressive $750,000. While that may seem like an impressive sum, Kris actually lost $1.25 million on the deal.
When he initially purchased the bling, Humphries paid an estimated $2 million. In retrospect, that seems like a pretty big waste of money, considering they weren’t even married for three months.
But then again, Kris and Kim were probably damned from the start. After all, any marriage that begins with a two-part TV special is likely to face problems down the road--even if it’s not that far down the road.
Married on August 20, 2011, the couple filed for divorce by October of that same year. In total, the NBA player and the socialite were wed for just 72 days.
Considering the brevity of their union (and the amount of revenue they generated off the ceremony), many were left wondering if it was just a publicity stunt. Of course, photos that surfaced in the days following his divorce showed Kris noticeably heartbroken.
It seems that Kris is doing just fine these days though. At least that’s how his rep made it seem, when he spoke to E!:
"He has long-since moved on and is very much looking forward to a successful auction at Christie's on Tuesday, and of course to returning to the court this upcoming NBA season as a Boston Celtic.”
