'Ant-Man' Casting News: Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd Up For Part

Marvel studio is reportedly looking at actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd for it's upcoming Ant-Man movie. In this latest update, we'll take a look at how well the casting rumors size up to the truth.

Anticipation of the Ant-Man casting soared, after director Edgar Wright tweeted a photo of test footage, along with the caption:

"Now I'm back in LA, it's high time to finish a little something I've been working on..."

Now rumor has it that The Dark Knight Rises' Joseph Gordon-Levitt and funny man Paul Rudd are up for the part. Marvel is reportedly looking for a more modestly built, "everyman" for the scientist-turned-superhero.

Wright's approach is also reported to be more of a quick witted, comedic type. This makes sense considering that he often works with Simon Pegg.

Wright and Pegg worked together on multiple occasions including, Shawn of the Dead and The Worlds End. Pegg even had to refute rumors that he was cast as Ant-Man, after he posted a picture on Twitter of the character. Pegg told The Guardian all about the mixup:

"I was at Marvel doing a podcast and I had my picture taken with the Hulk and Thor. And then I was having my picture taken by the big mural and I was like, 'There's Ant-Man!' because Edgar's doing Ant-Man. So, I pointed at it and the next thing I know, it's like 'He's Ant-Man!' I mean, grow up!"

Paul Rudd certainly has the charm and wit to pull off the part. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, however, may have had his fill of superhero films. He recently told Jay Leno about the possibility of him being in the upcoming Batman vs Superman film:

"I don't know. I don't think so. I don't have anything to do with that movie. I was in a movie that was the end of a trilogy that I was super proud and fortunate to be in."

Ant-Man is currently scheduled for release on July 31, 2015. Who do you want to see play the pint-sized Avenger?
