Who Will be the Next Christian Grey? Charlie Hunnam Quits ‘50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Cast [UPDATE]

A major update has occurred in the cast of 50 Shades of Grey. Charlie Hunnam has officially quit the upcoming movie, leading many to wonder who will be the next Christian Grey. Rumors are already flying about who will be replacing the Sons of Anarchy star, though no official announcement has been made.

Rarely do the tabloids ever get things right. But this is exactly what happened two weeks ago, when gossip magazines began reporting that Charlie Hunnam was calling it quits.

In many ways, his decision made sense. After EL James, author of the hit book the film is based on, announced who would be playing Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, she nearly started a riot.

Thousands of fans expressed their outrage on social media networks like Twitter and Facebook. One user told Classicalite:

“I've got a ton of frustration about these choices too so I'm going to condense this: Casting directors are complete idiots, moronic and totally ignorant to the physical descriptions of the main characters, which was laden throughout all three novels. Chace Crawford for Christian Grey's part. Leighton Meester or Olivia Palermo for Ana. Done. How the bloody hell was that so hard?”

The movie studio released the following statement concerning Hunnam’s exit:

“The filmmakers of Fifty Shades Of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.”

Of course, the studio’s explanation doesn’t really make a lot of sense. Hunnam was well aware of the filming schedule for his hit FX show, before he agreed to take on the role of Christian.

We want to hear from you. Why do you think Charlie really abandoned the project? Who do you want to see fill his role?
