Netflix Confirms Marvel's 'Iron Fist': Scott Buck of 'Dexter' Will be Showrunner

Marvel has been very busy on Netflix as of late. Not only have they hit it big with Daredevil and their latest series, Jessica Jones, but they plan to premiere Luke Cage in 2016, as well as a miniseries, The Defenders, in either 2016 or 2017. The latest addition to this growing cadre of heroes is Iron Fist. Netflix has confirmed that Scott Buck, the writer and producer of many Dexter episodes will be Iron Fist's showrunner.

Below is a fan made teaser trailer for the upcoming Iron Fist series. See how many different shows/movies you can spot.

For Jeph Loeb, who heads the studio responsible for all of these amazing hero shows, Buck proved to be love at first pitch: "Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet. We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we've found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders," quotes Entertainment Weekly.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with this particular Marvel character, Iron Fist is a Kung Fu style martial artist who defends New York against all kinds of evil through his mastery of the mythical Iron Fist. In the 1970's comics he was a companion to Luke Cage for several years. With that in mind, it is no real surprise that Netflix is bringing both heroes back to action around the same time.

As yet, there is no date for when Netflix will start streaming Iron Fist, but it has been said that the plan is for it to air before The Defenders Miniseries which will cross over all four of the heroes' story lines. There is no solid word on when the miniseries will be released either, but the rumor according to Fansided is that The Defenders will most likely not come out until sometime in 2017.

2016 will also herald the second season of Daredevil, so at least we have something to look forward to between now and then. Even still, it sounds to me like Buck better get to work. After what he did with Dexter, I for one, can't wait to see what he does with Iron Fist.
