‘50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Cast News: Charlie Hunnam Not Right as Christian Grey, Claims Facial Features Expert [UPDATE]

The cast of the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie can’t seem to catch a break. News seems to come everyday that claims Charlie Hunnam is not right for the part of Christian Grey. At first, it was just fans who claimed that the actor was wrong. Now, however, it is a facial features expert.

Charlie Hunnam probably expected that controversy would surround his role in the Fifty Shades of Grey film. But he probably didn’t think it would come in the form of a fan backlash against his casting.

After EL James announced on Twitter who she chose to play the lead in the film adaptation of her novel, social networks erupted with fan vitriol. Of course, fans aren’t the only ones speaking out now.

In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, facial expert Jean Haner weighed in on the casting decision. She told the publication that:

“The patterns of his facial features show that this guy doesn't have a kinky bone in his body, so it doesn't make him believable in the role. If the author wanted to choose someone more suitable for this part, she would have picked a guy with sharp cheekbones and hollowness to his cheeks, both features of someone who likes to be in control.”

Jean also offered up her own vision for how the character should appear, telling the site:

“He'd have a strong brow bone and deep-set eyes, which are signs of someone who likes to be domineering. A widow's peak usually means the person has natural sex appeal and charisma, and tends to enjoy kinky sex.”

While her criticism was harsh, it paled in comparison to fans’ reactions. A recent commenter told Classicalite:

“Charlie is not what many of the fans would have wanted, and that’s sadly going to hurt the movie! When it was announced that an old-looking blond man was playing the role, E.L. James lost a movie fan in me.”
