Jennifer Aniston’s husband Justin Theroux is at the center of a new controversy. The Zoolander 2 writer reportedly made a 9/11 joke on the set of his HBO series, The Leftovers. Now, Theroux rep has released a statement denying the allegations. This all comes shortly after rumors that he is planning to run for Mayor of L.A.
An unnamed insider, claiming to be an extra on The Leftovers, told The New York Post Page Six that Justin Theroux made a 9/11 joke on the set of the HBO series, insisting that the actor said:
“9/11 was the best thing that happened to NYers.”
The report goes on to claim that Theroux then pointed out that rent prices dropped, with the adding:
“He said at the end of the process, the landlord was so mad, they threw the keys at him.”
A rep for Theroux reached out to the publication, denying the rumor, stating:
“As a New Yorker and someone who has lived downtown for over 20 years, Justin would not make jest of 9/11.”
Theroux may have lived in New York for 20 years, but it seems that his future plans are all about L.A. Theroux might be throwing his hat into in the political arena. Radar Online, recently reported on an unnamed source is claimed that Theroux is thinking of running for Mayor of L.A.:
“Justin is a huge intellect and has always had a keen interest in politics and philosophy, though he doesn’t subscribe to any particular party and he isn’t very impressed with the field of Democrats so far this Presidential campaign… One day he could get be the mayor of L.A.. Lately he’s gotten quite serious about making it happen as a first step to bigger political aspirations.”
