It looks like there could be a curse surrounding cast members of Real Housewives of New Jersey. Caroline Manzo has been plagued by rumors that her husband is cheating on her. Teresa Giudice was arrested on fraud charges. And who could forget Melissa Gorga’s scandal, when she was accused of promoting marital rape in her new book. In this latest update, we’ll take a look at the rumors surrounding the housewives.
Penny Drossos made major news at the end of September when she publicly accused Al Manzo of cheating on his wife. While Bravo tried navigating around the issue, it has caused some trouble on the set. According to a source who spoke with Life and Style:
“During filming of the fifth season, Caroline realized that her marriage wasn’t picture perfect. Tension started to rise between Caroline and Al over his work schedule. She thought it was important for Al to take time off from work to spend with the family. It really frustrated Caroline that Al refused to listen to her. He would continuously put work before their relationship and his family.”
Of course, Caroline didn’t help matters when she told the publication:
“Marriage is not easy. People are so quick to say, ‘My husband will never cheat.’ But you know what? No one on this planet could say that with certainty.”
Caroline isn’t the only one plagued by scandal. Teresa and Joe Giudice find themselves in the middle of a major fraud investigation.
According to court documents, the couple are facing 39 counts of fraud and tax evasion. If convicted, they could face millions in fines and over 50 years in jail.
Teresa attempted to offer a plea deal but it was rejected, according to Radar Online. They quote a source as saying:
“Teresa and Joe’s defense team submitted a plea deal on Wednesday but the US Attorney denied it. Teresa wanted a plea deal that keeps her out of jail so she offered to do anything else BUT jail time and have Joe serve all the time in jail. The prosecutor dismissed the deal outright.”
According to the source, the prosecutor wasn’t falling for Teresa’s claim of ignorance. Mrs. Giudice was willing to sacrifice her own husband so that she would be spared prison time, as the insider revealed:
“The prosecutor has said that if she wants to plead it out she has to do the jail time. They believe the evidence will show that Teresa can’t play dumb. She was in cahoots with Joe and was just as much a part of orchestrating the scam as he was.”
Melissa Gorga isn’t free from scandal either. While plugging her new book, Love Italian Style, the reality actress appeared to advocate marital rape, telling her readers to “submit” to men.
