Tonight is the night! The long awaited premiere of 'American Horror Story: Coven' is finally here. Get caught up on all the latest spoilers before season 3 airs.
This new season breaks us out of the asylum and takes us to school, Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, to be precise. The school for witches is headed up by returning American Horror Story vets: Jessica Lange as supreme witch Fiona Goode and her daughter, head mistress Cordelia Foxx, played by Sarah Paulson.
A new recruit, Zoe Benson, is played by returning season 1 star, Taissa Farmiga. Zoe learns of her witch heritage when a horrific event accompanies her losing her virginity.
Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett also star in the show, playing real life persons Delphine LaLauri and Marie Laveau, respectively.
Evan Peters, Denis O'Hare and Frances Conroy also return for the new season.
Creator Ryan Murphy recently spoke with On the Red Carpet, where he talked about this year's lighter tone:
"I think that I did it on purpose because last year it was about mental institutions and it was very dark and had to be. We told the truth about that and it was a very honored season but many of the actors said, 'Come on, can I just wear a dress and & smoke a cigarette and say a joke now and again?' I always like to do the opposite. Next year, I'm sure it will be so dark that no one will watch it. I don't know."
Don't think that means that there goning to be takeing it easy on us as Taissa Farmiga, ads:
"It's still dark and strange but it's a bit more humorous and fabulous and wicked. It's just going to be really fun. It's a bunch of wonderful female leads. We do have our couple of males coming in, but it's just a completely different season and it's about female empowerment and it's fun."
American Horror Story airs tonight on FX.
