Ever since the ending of The Dark Knight Rises, rumors that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was going to be playing Batman in the next film began to surface. Now that Ben Affleck has, much to the dismay of fans every where, taken up the cape and cowl, speculation of JGL's involvement in the upcoming film still won't die down. So could it be true, could Levitt be Affleck's Robin?
From Matt Damon to Justin Bieber, jokes about who is going to be Batffleck's Robin have been plaguing the internet. However, many fans are not willing to give up on the idea of a JGL. Batman fans are praying that the 32-year-old will be the next Boy Wonder.
However, it is the opinion of many that this will be a bad idea. First off, The Dark Knight Rises was arguably the very worst film in the series. The plot holes and poor pacing didn't serve the trilogy well. Any continuation from that series would be folly. Second, the Nolan series was a closed off universe, never meant to spin-off into a wider world of superheroes.Third, Levitt is a full grown man. The notion of the former child star playing the Boy Wonder is laughable. Sure Levitt is a very talented performer, but for him to try and pull off role, would be something straight out of 90210. Lastly, both Levitt and Christopher Nolan have already said time and time again that the story is over. In fact, Nolan closed the loop on the idea by (Arguably) killing off Batman at the end of the film.
Levitt recently spoke with Jay Leno to hopefully put the rumors to rest :
"I don't know. I don't think so. I don't have anything to do with that movie. I was in a movie that was the end of a trilogy that I was super proud and fortunate to be in."
Who do you think should play Robin in the new film?
