Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton Affair? Duet 'You Can’t Make Old Friends' Reunites Couple On New Album

Country music legend Kenny Rogers just released his brand new album, You Can’t Make Old Friends. The title track reunites "The Gambler" with his old duet partner Dolly Parton. Rodgers is now speaking out about longstanding rumors of an affair with Parton.

Its been 30 years since Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton recorded their mega-hit duet 'Islands in the Stream." Now the duo has a brand new track out, "You Can’t Make Old Friends." Rogers spoke with Taste Of Country recently about the new records timing, lineing up with the old's:

“Totally coincidental, In fact, neither one of us realized that it was an anniversary of it, that it had been that long.”

On Tuesday, Rogers performed on Fox and Friends, where he spoke about Parton and the new track:

“She really is an old friend. The song was written for the two of us. We sang it on the stage of the war memorial in Nashville and both of us were really choked up, because it’s kind of a poignantly sad song. It’s about what am I going to do when you’re gone.”

The two are very close friends but Rogers insist that is all, despite rumors that they were once an item:

“[Parton] and I worked together for two years on the road. Everybody always thought we were having an affair. We just flirted with each other for 30 years, you know. But it keeps the tension,”

The 75-year-old is also the father of two nine-year -old twin boys, who insist he mention them in interviews:

“It’s a very interesting thing having kids at my age. They say it either makes you or breaks you. I’m leaning pretty heavily toward break right now.”
