The Season 4 premiere of 'The Walking Dead' is right around the corner and the man of the hour, Andrew Lincoln, is talking about what to expect in the new season. The group, which more than tripled in size at the end of the last season (when it took in the Woodbury members), now faces even more challenges...and an even deadlier new threat. SPOILERS BELOW
We learned at the end of Season 2 that the survivors were really the walking dead, now the group has a lot more dead to take care off. The lackluster Season 3 finale had people questioning a lot of the decisions that were made, most notably staying in the damaged prison instead of the solar powered and fully stocked Woodbury.
Sheriff Rick Grimes, himself, Andrew Lincoln, spoke with Entertainment Weekly about all the new survivors that were bused over to the prison at the end of Season 3.
“There’s around about 50 new characters, and that puts obviously an enormous pressure on the group with the practical necessities of food and water. It is a third-world environment that we’re existing in now...We were a band of maybe 10 characters at the end of last season. So there’s the character relationships, and the group dynamic has changed — radically. There are always going to be tensions within the group … and you find us in a place where people are trying to wrestle with those problems as well as, obviously, the pressure of the walkers and survival.”
However the group's numbers most likely won't stay that high for long. Producers say a new threat will make season four the deadliest one so far. You can check out all the bloody action yourself when the first episode of The Walking Dead Season 4 airs this Sunday, Oct 13, on AMC.
