There has been major news in the movie cast of 50 Shades of Grey. Jennifer Ehle has been cast as Anastasia Steele’s mom. Also, fans have begun sending Charlie Steele, who is playing Christian Grey, their lingerie. In this latest update, we’ll take a look at the developments surrounding the screen adaptation of EL James’ Fifty Shades of Grey.
Jennifer is perhaps best known for her role as Elizabeth Bennett. The 43-year-old actress starred opposite Colin Firth in the BBC series, Pride and Prejudice. Of course, that was way back in 1995.
The fact that Ehle is most associated with a role that occurred nearly 20 years ago, has some fans concerned. And as we have already learned, it doesn’t take much for fans of the book to get upset.
After all, EL James nearly started a riot when she announced the casting decision for Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. The studio chose Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson as their lead roles and Twitter exploded with negative comments.
One fan told Classicalite:
“I've got a ton of frustration about these choices too so I'm going to condense this: Casting directors are complete idiots, moronic and totally ignorant to the physical descriptions of the main characters, which was laden throughout all three novels. Chace Crawford for Christian Grey's part. Leighton Meester or Olivia Palermo for Ana. Done. How the bloody hell was that so hard?”
After thousands of negative comments, fans of Charlie Hunnam are responding. How, you might ask. Logically, they have begun sending him their underwear.
A neighbor of Hunnam told the Daily Star:
“We’ve seen frilly knickers, bras and even stockings left at his door by some fans of the book as they try to get his attention. It has been very odd. I’ve never seen anything quite like it.”
There has been no word yet on whether or not Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele) has begun receiving boxers and briefs at her California home. After all, she has received her fair share of bashing.
Luckily, Charlie Hunnam stepped in to defend her. In a press junket, the hunky actor said:
“As soon as we got in the room and started reading with Dakota, I knew that I definitely wanted to do it, because there was a tangible chemistry between us. It felt kind of exciting and fun and weird and compelling, and so that was it.”
