Nathan Fillion knows a thing or two about owning a character. The actor’s work really has a way of sticking with his fans. Whether or not it’s Firefly’s Captain Malcolm Reynolds, or the eponymous Richard Castle in the hit ABC crime drama, or Dr. Horrible’s supercilious antagonist Captain Hammer, Fillion has made a lasting impact on pop-culture. However, no matter how captivating Fillion is, he is not immune to the charms of others. Recently, Fillion opened up about his love for some of his favorite shows,Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead. If only we could see Fillion on the Iron Throne.
Despite the constant battle between Trekkies and whatever Star Wars fans call themselves, there is plenty of love to be shared in the geek community. There is always room in the libraries of true believers for both Marvel and DC. Recently, geek culture icon, Nathan Fillion opened up to Advocate about how he “owns” his favorite shows:
“I think about TV shows I really like: Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead. I feel a sense of ownership for those shows. [People say], ‘I gotta get home and watch my shows.’ We even speak about it in terms of ownership. So it is a strangeness that I actually relate to and understand. You’re spending time in people’s living rooms for however long that might be. An hour a week. Or if they’re gonna watch a movie, if they’re gonna binge watch your entire series, you’re in their living room. You’re a part of their home. They feel familiar.”
What do you think about Fillion’s comments? What shows do you “own”? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
