The Two and a Half Men star claims he is now HIV free, that tests show his blood no longer carries the virus. Okay, we should back up and say, apparently, Charlie Sheen is HIV positive. He has been so for several years now. Word around the internet is that he will reveal as much tomorrow on The Today Show.
Confused but not surprised is probably the general view of everyone. From TMZ, "Our sources say Charlie has known for more than 2 years that he was HIV positive ... and one source says he's known way longer than that. We're told Charlie was taking meds for the HIV and has had a series of blood tests, and over time, the virus has been "undetectable" in his system."
Sheen, who has admitted to extensive drug use and indiscriminate sexual escapades, is no stranger to bizarre behavior. After receiving his pink slip from the hit CBS show Two and a Half Men, Sheen went on a strange PR campaign where he played up his hedonistic lifestyle, all the while belittling Two and a Half Men show creator Chuck Lorre. According to USA Today, "Sheen will make a revealing personal announcement in an exclusive, live sit-down interview on Tuesday with Matt Lauer, but did not provide further details."
Where Charlie Sheen goes from here is anyone's guess. He has his bottom and whether or not he picks himself up off the ground is entirely up to him. An immensely talented actor, Sheen has let alcohol and drug addiction cloud that talent to the point where people are only going to remember him for his drug addiction and nothing else.
Tell us what you think. Do you feel sorry for Sheen or is this just the result of irresponsible living on his part? We'd love to hear from you.
