'Lucky 7' Loses Lottery as First Show Canceled, 'Sleepy Hollow' Gets Second Season

So much for luck. The numbers have been drawn and it looks like ABC's Lucky 7 has lost the lottery. The drama about big winners is the season's first loser. After only two weeks, the show has already been canceled. Meanwhile Fox's Sleepy Hollow races ahead of all the rest, by becoming the first series to get renewed.

TV killing season has begun and all bets are off. ABC made the first cut, cancelling the lottery drama Lucky 7. Poor performance in the ratings for two weeks in a row lead to the show's short run. This marks the second time a lottery drama has been canceled, after the short lived Windfall on NBC.

In other news, Fox announced that it is renewing its hit freshmen drama, Sleepy Hollow. The news first went out to fans via Twitter:

"We want our fans to be the first to know: #sleepyhollow has been picked up for a second season! #congrats #sleepyseason2"

FOX Entertainment Chairman, Kevin Reilly, seconded the announcement with an official statement:

"The show has proven to be a risk well worth taking – it’s a conceptual blast unlike anything else on television and it all holds together with inventive writing and a fantastic cast. I can’t wait for fans to experience what else is in store for this fall and even more of this wild ride into Season Two."

The somewhat biblical drama's official synopsis official reads:

"Washington Irving's classic, ICHABOD CRANE (Tom Mison, 'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen') is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to the founding fathers. Revived alongside Ichabod is the infamous Headless Horseman who is on a murderous rampage in present-day Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod quickly realizes that stopping Headless is just the beginning, as the resurrected rider is but the first of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and only one of the many formidable foes that Ichabod must face to protect not only Sleepy Hollow, but the world."

Sleepy Hollow airs on Monday nights at 9 p.m. on Fox. You can catch up on all the buzz on Hulu Plus.
