Brooke Shields and Andre Agassi may have gotten a divorce a long time ago but hard feelings still exist. The actress took time to bash her ex-husband on The Today Show. While the retired professional tennis player hasn’t responded, he did help trash Shields in his tell-all book, Open.
During a segment on The Today Show, Brooke Shields was speaking with Laura Wasser, a prominent divorce attorney. That’s when Brooke decided to get personal and open up about her own split, telling the audience:
"I am divorced. And mine was fairly quick, and relatively easy, but it’s a very interesting thing because he did say to me 'Be happy that we don’t have children or I would not have made this easy for you.' And therein lies why I’m not there anymore.”
Agassi hasn’t yet responded to her claims, however, he was the one to draw first blood. Agassi’s 2009 memoir, Open, was loaded with jabs at Shields. He even went so far as to say that he wished he had a decoy for their wedding day, saying:
"I have a thought no man should have on his wedding day...I wish I had a decoy groom to take my place.”
Shields, needless to say, was not pleased with his depiction of her. In an interview with Easy Living, she told the publication that:
“He made me sit in a room with his ghost writer and read what the writer had written. And of course he wouldn’t change anything I remembered differently, so I was like, why did I read it then? So you can tell everybody, ‘She read it?’ which means, ‘She put her stamp of approval on it?’ I didn’t put my stamp of approval on anything. It isn’t what I remembered. I don’t know why he wrote the book, I’m not sure he’s gotten the reaction he hoped for.”
