'Kick Ass'' Aaron Taylor-Johnson Cast As Quicksilver In 'Avengers:Age of Ultron'

Rumors that Elizabeth Olsen would be cast as the Scarlet Witch were just announced as being true. Now, similar claims about Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing her brother, Quicksilver, have reportedly been confirmed. It appears that the Kick Ass and Godzilla star will be joining the cast of the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, best known for his roles in the Kick Ass series, The Savages and the upcoming 2014 Godzilla reboot, is now a member of the Avengers cast. Latino Review is reporting that, much like Elizabeth Olsen's casting rumors coming to life, so are the rumors surrounding Johnson.

Johnson will play the Silver Haired Speedster, Quicksilver. A veteran member of the comics, Quicksilver is the brother of the Scarlet Witch and son of X-Men villain Magneto.

Johnson openly spoke with Cinema Blend about the part long before he had even seen a contract:

“There's years - over 50 years - of backstory on him all there to use, and I like doing that. Him and his sister [Scarlet Witch] have been abandoned by their parents and their father, and they grew up in Eastern Europe defending and looking out for themselves and each other. His sister really is his guidance - emotionally she's the one who looks after him, and vice versa. He's very overprotective physically - he doesn't want anyone touching her. He has real anger frustration - I like that. I always thought it'd be quite funny if you saw him eating loads and people asked him why and he'd explain it's because he's burning so much energy all the time. Or ideas that you'd see him come back round - but he's already nipped out and got his lunch somewhere else. He just got bored - his attention span is so f-----g quick”

As fast as he is, Quicksilver can't be in two places at once. ..or can he? American Horror Story star, Even Peters has been cast to play the role in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Despite the same source materiel the 20th Century Fox film has no connection to Disney owned Avengers series.
