In the wake of Glee star Cory Monteith's tragic death, Fox has released a tear jerking 30 second promo, titled "Farewell to Finn." The commercial is set to Lea Michele's heartbreaking rendition of Bob Dylan's "To Make You Feel My Love.' The preview helps prepare fans for next week's touching tribute episode.
The clip doesn't hold back on the tears. Not only does it tug on the heartstrings of fans, but the cast and crew were obviously heartbroken during filming...and it shows. The creator of Glee, Ryan Murphy, recently spoke with The Wrap about the episode:
"Almost everything in that episode is from the first take of every performance, because the actors and the crew had a really hard time shooting it. I've never seen a crew where you can't continue shooting because they left the room sobbing. It was very hard, and I struggled even working on it, because you're seeing what they felt about not just Finn, but Cory. So I think it's amazing performances across the board, and everybody went into it with a lot of love."
One of the most shaken members of the cast is Monteith's real life and on screen girlfriend, Lea Michele. Michele spoke about the passing, dedicating her Teens Choice Award to his memory back in August:
"I just wanted to be here today to personally thank all of you and tell everyone out there how much all of your love and support has meant to me over these very difficult past few weeks, For all of you out there who loved and admired Cory as much as I did, I promise that with your love we're gonna get through this together. He was very special to me and also to the world. We were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart so whether you know him personally or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and he became a part of all of our hearts."
The farewell to Finn episode, titled "The Quarterback," airs next Thursday, October 10, at 9 p.m. on Fox.
