Samuel L Jackson may do a fine job playing super spy Nick Fury in the movies, but in real life he's not so good at keeping secrets. During a recent interview, he let the cat out of the bag about actress Elizabeth Olsen's casting in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. His comments all but confirm that the 24-year-old actress will be playing the Scarlet Witch in the sequel.
Rumors had been spreading for months that director Joss Whedon had been eyeing Elizabeth Olsen for the role of Scarlet Witch after Saoirse Ronan turned down the part. During an interview with Wall Street Journal, Samuel L. Jackson spilt the beans about Olsen involvement in the film:
“I don’t think we begin shooting before March of next year. I know we’re shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. Olsen, but I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s on the inside or the outside. I haven’t seen a script.”
The Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff, is the daughter of X-Men villain Magneto. Along side ger brother Quicksilver, the two are instrumental parts of the Avengers comic history.
Where Olsen might be easy on the eyes, she won't be as easy on the team. Joss Whedon told IGN about the role the brother /sister team will play in the new film.
“You know, they had a rough beginning. They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.”
Avengers: Age of Ultron is scheduled for release in 2015.
