House of Versace, Lifetime’s original movie, has a quickly approaching release date. We’ve got the latest update on the cast, as well as the new extended trailer. Check it out below.
Lifetime is busy promoting their new original movie, House of Versace. You can’t seem to miss it, especially if you are a fan of Project Runway.
The film also boasts a star studded cast, which includes Thor’s Colm Feore and Raquel Welch. The main role of Donatella Versace, however, will be played by Gina Gershon.
The film, which premieres at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, is based heavily on the novel, House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival. The book, written by Wall Street Journal’s Deborah Ball, focuses on Donatella.
Specifically, it traces her actions following the murder of her brother--Gianni Versace. After his death, it was Donatella who was left to run his fashion empire and for a while there, things were a bit rocky.
Dona quickly became addicted to hard drugs and almost lost it all. In the trailer, Dona is seen snorting cocaine off of a mirror. If it wasn’t for her family stepping in and demanding she enter rehab, the fashion darling could have bankrupted the brand...or, worse yet...died.
If you can’t get enough designer dish, then stay tuned for the 10:00 p.m. hour. Lifetime will be airing a documentary entitled Versace: Beyond the Headline. This film will focus on Gianni and his entrance into the word of fashion.
