Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan returns to Metlife Stadium for the first time as not the New York Jets' head man tonight, and, as is customary for Ryan, named his players who had ties to the opponent as captains. While this tactic is one that Ryan has used before numerous times to motivate his team, this time he went a little too far, in classic Rex style, and named LB IK Enemkpali as a captain, which was simply childish and showed off how cocky Rex Ryan can be at times.
For those who don't remember, Enemkpali was drafted by Ryan, and started this current year still in the Jets' organization, although Ryan had moved on to Buffalo. Enemkpali got into a heated argument with former starting quarterback Geno Smith in the Jets' locker room and punched him in the jaw, breaking it and causing Smith to lose his starting job to Ryan Fitzpatrick -- who in all fairness has actually played well this year.
