As hard as it might be to believe, Colin Farrell, who was once known as much for his womanizing as his acting, is said to have completely sworn off sex. According to the latest gossip news update, the Lobster heartthrob has devoted himself to remaining sober and celibate, despite the recent rumors linking him to True Detective costar, Rachel McAdams. For his part, Colin freely admits that he hasn't dated anyone since breaking up with former girlfriend Alicja Bachleda-Curus, who is mother to his son, Henry, way back in 2009, but the In Bruges Golden Globe winner can't promise that he's spent every night alone since then.
Given how hard he worked to build the reputation of a hard partying Hollywood ladies' man in his 20s, italmost seems impossible to think that Colin Farrell has given up women altogether.
One source in the latest November 15, issue of Star magazine insists, however, that the True Detective brooder has turned his back on sex along with drugs and alcohol:
"Colin got sober for his boys...But the most shocking element of his transformation is that he's gone celibate!
"Some men Colin met at a Buddhist temple raved about the clarity that came from sex facts. It's all a bit extreme, but that's Colin's personality."
During a recent interview with the Telegraph, Colin explained that his reasons for going to rehab a decade ago had more to do with his losing himself in his Hollywood persona than it did his cavorting with Tinsel Towns most famous 10s:
"I became a parody. Everything was magnified: the opportunities I had, the money I earned. So the smokescreen [I created] was magnified: it was the one true consistency I had.
"That was like a cancer after a while. If you build a dam, water becomes a bigger version of itself.
"I have loads of fears [about being with someone again]. But I don't want to be on my own forever."
When sitting down to speak to RTE ONE's Ryan Tubridy, Colin admitted that it was true that he hadn't had a serious love interest in years but balked at the notion that he had given up on sex or love:

"I'm single. For six years now. I may not have been alone every night in bed for whatever that is, you know 20,000 nights.
"I haven't exactly been proactively looking for someone but...Don't get me wrong, if I met someone tomorrow you know, your life expands accordingly, as does your heart, and you find moments and you find evenings and you get a babysitter and all that jazz."
