While the official release date for Thor: The Dark World is still over a month away, some lucky fans will be making the trip to Asgard in as little as 28 days. Disney announced back in August that it will be releasing the blockbuster sequel, over a week early in select IMAX 3D theaters on October 30, 2013.
Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World is one of the years most highly anticipated new films. Fans, who have been counting down the days till November 8, caught a lucky break back on August 15, when the studio announced that the film would receive an earlier international release via Imax 3D theaters. So, no Bifrost or Oden Force required for the early return visit to Asgard.
IMAX CEO of Entertainment and Senior Executive Vice President, Greg Foster, made the announcement on August 15:
"Like all the dynamic Marvel characters, Thor has developed a massive global following and we look forward to moviegoers experiencing this highly anticipated next chapter in IMAX 3D. We’re excited to continue to build on our flourishing partnership with Marvel and Disney with this iconic property."
Disney's Executive Vice President of Theatrical Exhibition Sales and Distribution, Dave Hollis, also spoke with excitement about bringing Asgard to life on the biggest screen of all:
"All the nine realms will be stunningly displayed when 'Thor: The Dark World' arrives in IMAX 3D. We continue to have great success with IMAX and are thrilled to once again work with them to bring the Marvel Universe to life in this premium format."
Surely over eager fans who are not near an IMAX, will be roaming the internet for spoilers after October 30. Thor: The Dark World opens in theaters on November 8.
