With the recent flooding, the Charleston church shooting and Spring Valley School incident, South Carolina has a bit of a rough go lately. However, at least one couple of South Carolinian’s luck is turning around. One lucky couple from the state matched five numbers for a $5 million win. Check the result report below for a look at the big winner and this weekend’s all new Mega Millions total.
The official Mega Millions lottery website is reporting on the recent $5 million win in South Carolina, reporting:
“The Mega Millions jackpot continues to roll, as no ticket matched all six numbers in Friday night’s drawing – 17, 41, 51, 53 and 56, plus the Mega Ball of 15. The estimated jackpot for next Tuesday, November 3, is $144 million ($89 million cash).
“One ticket, sold in South Carolina, did match the five white balls, and because the purchase included the optional Megaplier, the ticket is worth a whopping $5 million. That is the 14th time this year that a Match 5 winning ticket was multiplied by the Megaplier – and the eighth time this year that it has been worth $5 million.
“The jackpot has been rolling since it was won in New York on September 11. The winners of that $106 million prize were just announced on Thursday – a group of five friends from Yonkers, N.Y., and Basking Ridge, N.J.”
The site went on to report on the actual winners, writing:
“November 3, 2015 –- A Chester couple has won South Carolina’s largest Mega Millions prize to date. They cashed in the winning ticket worth $5 million yesterday.
“‘We haven’t slept much,” admitted the pair, who after taxes took home $3.4 million.
“And they haven’t told their children yet either.
“The couple, a boyfriend and girlfriend, found out they won on Saturday. The boyfriend was bringing in the groceries when he heard his girlfriend scream, ‘You won! You won!’”
