Amanda Bynes 2013 Mental Health Update: Schizophrenia Illness Transferred to Rehab from Costly UCLA Treatment

There has been a new update in the 2013 treatment of Amanda Bynes' mental health. The actress, who is suffering from schizophrenia and other illnesses, has transferred from the costly UCLA. She is now continuing treatment at a Malibu rehab clinic.

According to a source that spoke exclusively to Radar Online, the former child star may have left UCLA, but she is still undergoing treatment. The insider told the gossip site that:

“To say Amanda isn’t being treated for her psychiatric condition is absolutely reckless and irresponsible. Amanda was actually doing worse at UCLA and it was a very scary place for her. The decision was made to move her to another facility that was in a much more serene setting and nurturing environment. Amanda is actually doing a lot better. It’s not only a rehab facility and does offer extensive treatment for patients in need of mental health treatment.”

Amanda may be welcoming the change of environment for more than one reason...especially if she’s taking finances into account. It was revealed last month that the actress was paying a tremendous sum of money to get her court-ordered treatment.

According to reports, it cost her as much as $3,500/day. That’s over a $1 million a year. To put it in perspective, a source told TMZ:

“The cost is so high because it covers not just treatment, but living expenses as well. To put this in perspective, you can get a deluxe executive suite at the Four Seasons Hotel in nearby Beverly Hills for $815 a night."

Amanda’s court-ordered treatment stems from a July event, in which Bynes set a fire in a neighbor’s driveway. After questioning, it was determined that Bynes didn’t even know the family.

A convenience store security cam caught the young woman washing gasoline off of herself and her dog. She was not wearing pants at the time.
