In the wake of Dina Lohan's drunk driving arrest and Michael Lohan's confession that he drove his daughter to drugs, Oprah Winfrey has decided to pull the pair from Lindsay Lohan's new reality show. The program that will focus on Lilo's recovery, will apparently not be exploiting the situation for ratings.
There is no doubt that Lindsay Lohan's parents are partly responsible for her trouble with drugs and alcohol. Fortunately, Oprah Winfrey is smart enough to see that and classy enough to not exploit it. TMZ is now reporting that producers of Lilo's OWN series have banned Michael and Dina Lohan from the show.
Michael Lohan recently accepted blame for the family's problems, when he spoke to TMZ:
"I think because of [my and Dina's] divorce and what happened, Lindsay was put in a horrible position."
Then again her mothers arrest, last month, allegedly has Lindsay questioning if substance abuse is in her dna. OK! Magazine, recently quoted an insider, saying:
"Lindsay now thinks that she's genetically doomed to self-destruct."
Dina Lohan appeared before a judge last week to face her severe drunk driving charges. Momma Lohan plead not guilty and was released without bail, but with a suspend drivers license. Lohan has to reappear in court on October 23. Her attorney, Mark Heller, spoke to the to the press:
"Dina Logan is painfully mindful of the gravity of her arrest for driving while intoxicated. I am confident that the district attorney's office and the judicial system will temper justice with mercy."
Dina was pulled over by New York state police in Long Island for driving 77 mph in a 55 mph zone. She was then giving a sobriety test, which she failed with a blood alcohol level of .20, over twice the legal limit.
Now she is fighting charges of two counts of driving while intoxicated. This kind of behavior can not be a good influence on Lindsay, who is struggling to overcome her own demons. Lilo, was just recently released in August from court ordered rehab, for her own string of DUI arrests.
Inronically, Dina recently credited Oprah with Lindsay's success staying clean after rehab. She told Gossip Magazine:
"I think it’s probably one of the best things that could have happened to her, honestly. If someone’s going to mentor, it better be Oprah.”
