Katy Perry Talks Suicidal Thoughts After Divorce, Quitting Pop Music and John Mayer's Bed Games

Katy Perry is a pop culture icon. The singer/songwriter is best known for her over the top pop songs, "I Kissed a Girl," "Hot and Cold" and "California Gurls." However, in a recent interview, Perry revealed that she is getting too old to be living the "Teenage Dream." She has come a long way from her days of playing hide and go seek with Elmo on Sesame Street. The 28-year-old told Billboard Magazine about her suicidal thoughts after her divorce, her plans to quit pop music and her boyfriend, John Mayer's, twisted bed games.

Divorce can be hard on anyone, especially one as highly publicized as Katy Perry and Russell Brand's. In her upcoming album, Prism, Perry bares her soul in the song "By the Grace of God." She told Billboard Magazine about the story behind the song:

“That song is evident of how tough it really was at a certain point. I asked myself, ‘Do I want to endure? Should I continue living?’

Perry might be spending a little too much time with country stars Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves. She went on to say that she wants to move back to her folk roots:

"I'll probably turn into more of a Joni Mitchell. As I inch towards my 30s, I think my fourth record will be more of an acoustic guitar...That's where I started when I was first discovered by Glen Ballard and got my first record deal. We'll see - I can't get ahead of myself."

Perry also took the time to dish about what goes on between her and John Mayer in the bedroom:

“I always tell him, ‘Darling, you know I’m going to have to give your mind to science after you’ve passed, because we’re going to have to understand how all these sparks work. We’ll be in bed, and he’ll be doing the crossword puzzle. Every night, he tries to finish it in under 10 minutes. When he puts his mind to something, he really gets it done very well. I always ask for his help.”

Prism comes out October 22.
