Kacey Musgraves Announces New Single 'Follow Your Arrow' at Zack Brown's Southern Ground Music Festival

Some of Nashville's biggest stars gathered this weekend at the Southern Ground Music and Food Festival to feed their souls. The event, hosted by Zack Brown of the Zack Brown Band, featured tons of food and music from some of country music's biggest names, including Kenny Chesney and Kenny Rogers. Relative newcomer and CMA frontrunner, Kacey Musgraves, unveiled her new single, "Follow Your Arrow," at the festival.

This past weekend's festival in Music City was hosted by the Zack Brown Band. Joining Zack on stage were some of his favorite artists like: Kenny Chesney, Kenny Rogers, John Fogerty, Clare Bowen, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Dawe, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, and special guest Jason Mraz, alongside many more.

Country's newest sweetheart, Kacey Musgraves, also performed. The singer/songwriter is best known for her hit songs, “Merry Go ’Round,” and "Blowing Smoke," as well as being a co-writer for Miranda Lambert's "Mama’s Broken Heart." On Saturday night, Musgraves unveiled the third single off her hit debut album, Same Trailer Different Park, titled "Follow Your Arrow."

The new song continues Musgraves' "make no apologizes" approach to songwriting. Kacey isn't afraid to sing about issues that mainstream country music has seemingly deemed controversial in the past, including her support for gay rights and pot legalization. The chorus for "Follow Your Arrow" includes the lyrics:

"Make lots of noise
Kiss lots of boys
Or kiss lots of girls
If that's something you're into
When the straight and narrow
Gets a little too straight
Roll up a joint, (or don't)
Just follow your arrow
Wherever it points"

Still, despite her taboo subject matter, Musgraves was nominated for six CMA awards, tying her with pop-country darling, Taylor Swift.

The Southern Ground Music and Food Festival will be making it's way to Charleston, South Carolina on October 19-20th.
