Filming is already underway for the fourth installment of the Transformers series, Age of Extinction. There is a lot of excitement surrounding this film. Between the confirmation of the Dinobots and widespread rumors of Unicron, there is no doubt that an epic battle is brewing. Michael Bay could not help but add a little fuel to the fire by posting a picture of him doing what he does best--blowing stuff up!
When he is not busy (allegedly) sexualy harassing his co-workers or alienating millions of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans, Michael Bay likes to unwind with a few thousand tons of dynamite. Bay is known for his big budget, explosion heavy, block buster films. He recently shut down a small section of Chicago, so he could set off a few of his famed fireworks. Bay is performing a soft reboot on his Transformers film series, before he hands over the reigns to a new director. Bay recently tweeted a picture from the set of the latest installment, which indicates he will be going out with one of his trademark bangs.
The picture of Bay shows the director living out every eight-year-old's dream, by sitting behind the camera while filming a massive explosion. Needless to say, this hints at what promises to be a massive battle.
What battle could be bigger than the Dinobots vs the forces of Unicron?
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura spoke to Beijing News recently to confirm the appearance of the Dinobots in the new movie as well as a new look for the more familiar Autobots, Bumblebee And Optimus Prime:
“I can not disclose the specifics, but you can be sure that the joining of the Dinobots will give the audience new excitement. In addition to Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, the appearance of these classic roles changed, today the world’s coolest, most exciting cars will appear in the film, including China’s vehicles, whether you are a car enthusiast, you will feast your eyes and be shocked by them.”
While little is known about the films villains, hints of the planet-sized Unicron are everywhere. The film's official synopses refers to the mysterious big bad by saying:"an ancient, powerful Transformer menace sets Earth in his crosshairs."
That description is also coupled with the confirmation of Cyclonus, one of Unicron's henchman, and reports of Megatron's severed head possibly being turned into Galvatron.
Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Kelsey Grammer and Stanley Tucci star in the new film.
Transformers: Age of Extinction will be coming to theaters June 27, 2014.
