Princess Kate Middleton Reveals Christening Date for Prince George, William and Harry of Wales to Attend Baptism

Princess Kate Middleton is making headlines once again. This time it’s for announcing the christening date for Prince George Alexander Louis. Expected to attend the baptism is a small group of family and friends, including Prince William and Harry of Wales.

Kensington Palace announced on Friday that the christening of Prince George will be occurring on October 23. Fans of the royal family are ecstatic, since the last photo they received of the new prince was the above photo (taken by Kate’s dad).

According to Kensington Palace’s official statement:

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to announce the christening of Prince George will take place on Wednesday, 23rd October at The Chapel Royal, St. James's Palace. Prince George will be christened by The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby."

National Examiner has offered up what the ceremony might look like:

"The three month-old prince will be serenaded with hymns by 16 choristers from the Chapel Royal. The future monarch of England will be dressed in the original lace and silk christening robe first worn in 1841 by Queen Victoria’s son, the future King Edward VII. At the reception following the third in line to the British throne’s baptism, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will serve the top tier from their April 2011 wedding cake.”

Prior to the baptism, however, Kate and William have some important decisions to make. Most importantly, the royal couple will be deciding who the godparents of Prince William will be.

If history is any indication, Prince George will be provided six different godparents. While no official announcement has been made, one could safely assume that Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton will make the shortlist.

Who do you think would make a good godparent? Are you excited to see photos from the event?
