‘50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Cast News: Charlie Hunnam Quits Before Release Date Announced? Fans React [UPDATE]

Over the weekend, it was rumored that Charlie Hunnam may be quitting the 50 Shades of Grey movie cast. Before a tentative release date can even be announced, the film could have to find another Christian Grey. In this latest update, we’ll take a look at how you--the fans--reacted to the news.

Less than a month after the casting announcements were made, it appears that Charlie Hunnam may be having problems with his role. A new report from Celebrity Dirty Laundry is claiming that Hunnam now regrets accepting the once-coveted role.

While no specific reason was given by the gossip site, they implied that it had something to do with fans’ reactions to the casting announcement. Needless to say, fans really spoke their mind!

Once EL James revealed that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson had been cast as the leads, all hell broke loose on Twitter and Facebook. An overwhelming amount of fans fired back, blasting the casting decision.

This includes readers of Classicalite. One viewer, who calls goes by LKB, wrote:

“Charlie isn't Christian to me, but he isn't NEARLY as bad as Dakota for Ana. They need to recast Ana for sure. Dakota looks ancient. Her features are very mature and nothing like Ana's, and I'm sure the fact that she has a drug and alcohol past and is a smoker isn't helping! She's kinda gross.”

Whoa! What has inspired all of this vitriol? Out on the 230 comments on the story, only a handful were actually positive. Sofia felt similar to LKB, but really went after the casting director:

“I've got a ton of frustration about these choices too so I'm going to condense this: Casting directors are complete idiots, moronic and totally ignorant to the physical descriptions of the main characters, which was laden throughout all three novels. Chace Crawford for Christian Grey's part. Leighton Meester or Olivia Palermo for Ana. Done. How the bloody hell was that so hard?”

Did these two viewers get it right? What do you think about the announcements? Let us know in the comment field below.
