Straight from his beatdown in the most recent Thor: The Dark World trailer, former Dr. Who star Christopher Eccleston talks about his upcoming role as the villainous, Malekith the Accursed.
If you have seen the most recent Thor: The Dark World TV trailer, then you have seen Malekith the Accursed take a seemingly devastating hammer shot to the face. Still after that stunning blow, Eccleston was able to talk to Total Film about his time in the suit. He even had a few words to say about the characters fictional language:
"The language was created by a very talented man, But I'm not sure he's absolutely a people person that knows the language has to be spoken! So bringing it to life in a short space of time created some tension, but I think that is a supreme example of Alan trying to ground actors in reality. In an odd way, it may provide these villainous guys some pathos; it may just humanize them."
Director Alan Taylor had a few words of praise for the actor and the difficult task he had bringing the comic book villain to life:
"Finding a way to be a villain in these movies is a really tricky thing.Christopher has been very articulate and useful. There's a default position which is very easy, you cackle madly and laugh! I think we've done a lot of work to make Malekith a three-dimensional character who has an understandable back-story and a motive for what he's doing."
Thor: The Dark World opens on November 8th. If you desperately need a fix in the meantime, check out Malekith taking a beating in the new teaser trailer. While you're at it, be sure to call Christopher Eccleston a Dr. He's gonna need one after Thor gets through with him.
