George Clooney, Justin Timberlake and Matt Damon Take on Ben Affleck's Batman: Hollywood's A-listers Support Batffleck

While its clear that the Internet is outraged at the thought of Ben Affleck being cast as Batman in the upcoming 2015 Man of Steel sequel, some of Affleck's more famous friends are in his corner. Notable Hollywood A-listers George Clooney, Justin Timberlake and Matt Damon have all came out in support of Batffleck.

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, George Clooney responded to all the Batffleck backlash, by shining the Bat signal on his own performance:

"I am the least qualified person to comment on anyone playing the role of Batman since I so terribly destroyed the part."

Clooney is of course referring to his role in 1997's much hated, Batman and Robin. Clooney had previously spoken with Total Film in 2011, about his time underneath the cowl, saying:

"Batman is still the biggest break I ever had and it completely changed my career, even if it was weak and I was weak in it," It was a difficult film to be good in. I don’t know what I could have done differently."

Affleck's Runner, Runner co-star, Justin Timberlake, recently spoke with Digital Spy about the issue:

"I think it's just going to be a different vision. I don't think you can judge it until you see it...I think one of the most important parts of playing Batman is to make a good Bruce Wayne. I think he'll make Bruce smart. I've heard him talk about it."

Affleck's close friend and Good Will Hunting writing partner, Matt Damon, has also spoken up about the Batffleck controversy, telling the Times of India:

"I think it will be great. It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the internet. I just think it's kind of funny. You know, he's not playing King Lear. It's Batman! That's certainly within his skill set. If anybody saw 'Argo' or 'The Town,' and all the work he's been doing lately, it's way more nuanced and interesting and way more difficult than Batman! Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head and whispers in a kinda gruff voice at people. Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that."
