Mockingjay - Part 2: How to Beat Superior Tech with a Bow

Tweens everywhere celebrate the return of Katniss Everdeen in 'Mockingjay - Part 2,' where we'll learn how to beat superior tech and firepower with a bow.

I'm a big fan of The Hunger Games. The brutality and sheer rawness of the film appeals to my grimmer side. And it was done well. Yes, the heroine wins and flips the bird at the totalitarian government. Great, good job, whatever, the government still stands, President Snow's still in charge, and guess what, nothing's changed except a few riots started and were put down.

That's how it should be. It's not what we want deep down in our hearts (nor wallets), but more than likely, that's how things would end up. Or rather, I should say, did end up. The Romans are arguably the greatest example of effective gladiatorial entertainment.

Then of course, later on in the series, we see a daring escape from the arena (which I actually applauded, die-hard totalitarian that I am) which leads to Katniss joining the rebellion. You know what, I can handle that. It's not beyond belief.

Then of course, came Mockingjay - Part 1. Honestly, the sheer inefficiency of President Snow's forces to actually penetrate the bunker is a bit disheartening. Oh for a villain to actually be capable in a movie. And Snow was doing so well, too. Capturing Peeta and brainwashing him to kill Katniss? Brilliant! I should have thought of that myself. Not to mention the sheer demoralizing effect on the rebellion, whether or not Peeta succeeds.

And now we have Mockingjay - Part 2 coming out November 20th. And we all know it's going to end with a rebel victory. No, no spoilers. I mean, come on. Bow vs advanced tech? This is movie-land, the bow always wins.

"However, taking down the Capitol's President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is easier said than done, and previously-released trailers for Mockingjay - Part 2 has teased the brutal traps which have been set up around the Capitol for 'protection' - something that prompts Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) to refer to this last battle as being 'The 76th Hunger Games.' " I certainly hope it's as entertaining as the 74th Hunger Games.

The key to victory lies in being the underdog. Underdog heroes get the most public support (money), and therefore actually have more funding than even a galaxy spanning empire. This means that a small group of rebels facing one Capitol city actually have a very good chance at winning. Yes, yes, they'll take casualties and no doubt somebody will die, but they'll win in the end.

Another key is to have cooler weapons than the bad guys. Do you have really cool looking primitive weapon? Great! Does your outfit look better than the bad guys? Yes? You'll win and look fabulous while blowing up that tank with an arrow. You're on fire!

The only thing that would be more likely to ensure success was if Katniss had blue skin, was nine feet tall, and communed with the planet.

In any case, I hope the upcoming movie has more action than Part I. If so, it should be a pretty awesome movie, regardless of the rebel victory.

So what do you think about Mockingjay - Part 2? What do you hope they get right? What do you think will be missing from the book or done wrong?
