Violinist Mia Matsumiya Accumulates 1,000 Sexually Aggressive Messages and Shares on Twitter

Much in the same vein as Tucker Max's I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, or even the mobile-friendly app, Texts From Last Night, violinist Mia Matsumiya has accumulated over 1,000 sexually aggressive and forward messages from men on the Internet. Lately, she has put them on Twitter for the world to see.

In a 10 year span, Mia Matsumiya has experienced the bottom feeders of the Interweb on every platform you can think of--MySpace, Facebook, OkCupid and more. Now, to make that form of creepiness accessible to readers and listeners alike, the violinist has been releasing these correspondences via the Instagram handle @perv-magnet.

The "part modern art piece, part depressing reflection" is a testament to the Internet void that usually offends women. As the web is an unregulated space, the byproduct of what anonymous users can get away with is, to say the least, astounding.

Matsumiya told Newsworthy of her latest installation: "Five years ago, I wanted to make a coffee table book out of all these f-ed up messages. I thought they were hilarious, anthropologically interesting and would make an entertaining but disturbing read."

It is the violinist's goal to create a space for women to share their experiences and for men to become more attune to the sexual landscape that pervades the Internet as of late.

She said in another interview, "It's unacceptable and so depressingly rampant. I want my account to be a place where women can commiserate and men to just learn what women can experience online. I don't know yet what can be done about it but I feel like the first step is definitely to shed light on the issue."

Peep the new Twitter that's hosted by the musician and if you have any complaints to file of your own experiences on the web, please, feel free to share them on Matsumiya's page.

For now, here is the musician below.
