George Zimmerman's Wife Shellie Questions if Killing was In Self Defense

George Zimmerman's estranged wife, Shellie Zimmerman, went on the Today Show on Thursday, where she questioned if her husband really was using self-defense when he killed Trayvon Martin.

George Zimmerman divided the nation after he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, a black unarmed 17-year-old, outside of his home last year. Zimmerman, who chased down Martin after being told to not to by 911 operators, shot and killed him, in what he claimed was self defense. Zimmerman was acquitted by a Florida jury over the summer. Now his soon-to-be ex-wife is claiming that it may not have been in self defense.

Since his acquittal, Zimmerman has been acting increasingly reckless. He has been pulled over for speeding twice in as many months. His dangerous behavior and emotional abandonment lead his wife, one of the few people to actually stick beside him, to file for a divorce.

Shortly after the filing, Zimmerman allegedly assaulted Shellie and her father at their Lake Mary home. According to the initial 911 calls, Shellie claimed that her estranged husband had assaulted her father and had threatened them both with a fire arm. Shellie later recanted her story, leading to all charges being dropped pending further investigation.

Now Shellie is speaking out to NBC's Matt Lauer, Thursday on the Today Show she said:

"This person that I'm married to that I'm divorcing, I've kind of realized now that I don't know him. And I really don't know what he's capable of."

She also went on to add that she was now uncertain if the Trayvon Martin slaying was indeed in self defense.:

"I'm conflicted on that. I believe the evidence, but this revelation in my life has really helped me to take the blinders off."

The interview was aired on NBC, the very same network that Zimmerman is suing for defamation.
