Everyone can’t stop talking about the upcoming movie, Fifty Shades of Grey. In this latest update, we’ll take a look at why some members of the cast need extra security. Charlie Hunnam, aka Christian Grey, does need more force. Dakota Johnson, who will be portraying Anastasia Steele, does not.
When EL James announced the cast of the upcoming screen adaptation of her “mommy porn” novel, FIfty Shades of Grey, all hell broke loose. Diehard fans of the book couldn’t accept that Charlie Hunnam had been cast as Christian Grey. As one fan put it on Facebook:
“Charlie is not what many of the fans would have wanted, and that’s sadly going to hurt the movie! When it was announced that an old-looking blond man was playing the role, E.L. James lost a movie fan in me.”
This is, unquestionably, one of the more tame responses. Others included much harsher language and even threats. As a result, Hunnam has been provided extra security on the studio’s dime.
It’s unclear whether Hunnam requested the security personally or if the studio was the insisting party. Either way, when the star showed up for the premiere of the new season of Sons of Anarchy, his security team had doubled in size.
Turns out they may actually be needed. Since the casting announcement was made, tons of Fifty fans began showing up at the set of Sons of Anarchy, dying to get a view of the new Christian Grey...and some to give him a piece of their mind.
Dakota Johnson, who will be starring opposite Hunnam, also got an earful from disgruntled readers. It appears that she, however, will not be needing the added security.
This has left many wondering why not...after all, she is much more petite than Charlie. Likely, this has to do with the fact that she is nowhere near as high-profile as Charlie. It’s this reason that has fans wondering why she was selected in the first place...as many were unaware of who she was.
