‘Law & Order: SVU’ New Episode Spoilers, Andy Karl Joins Cast as Sgt Mike Dodds

Tonight, NBC is all new with a brand new episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Tonight we meet the SVU’s newest member, Sgt Mike Dodds (Andy Karl). Check out the report below for a look at tonight’s new episode and new detective.

The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, titled “Maternal Instincts,” reads:

“A violinist is raped by her colleague, who doesn't remember committing the crime and claims he was drugged and robbed by a hired escort. Meanwhile, Rollins' mother throws a baby shower for her; and Sgt. Mike Dodds reports to work at the SVU squad.”

Tonight we get to me the SVU’s newest detective, Sgt Mike Dodds, played by Andy Karl. Recently, Andy Karl spoke with Parade about the new character saying:

“One challenge is that this character is new to SVU entirely. Dodd’s never been an investigator in the Special Victims Unit, and there are a lot of nuances that go along with that type of investigation -- things that he’s not used to. He comes from anti-crime, which is going out and busting the perps, bringing them back and throwing them in jail.”
