Fans of Orange is the New Black recently got some good news from Laura Prepon. The celebrity Scientologist will be returning to her role of Alex, Piper’s girlfriend, on Season 2 of the hit Netflix series.
At first, there was cause for concern. Numerous media outlets and gossip sites were reporting that the former That 70’s Show actress would not be returning for the second season. Most outlets claimed that the star’s religion was preventing her from continuing the show.
Luckily for fans of the series, these rumors turned out to be totally false. In an interview with Variety, Prepon confirmed her presence in the the upcoming season:
"But I’m definitely coming back for Season 2. I know there’s a lot floating around, but I can’t wait to get back there. It’s exciting.”
Not only were fans confused about whether or not Prepon would be returning, but her fellow castmates seemed just as perplexed. Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper on the prison dramedy, told the press:
"Well, you know, I don't really know anything about that, I just know that she's an amazing actress and I've really had an incredible time working with her and I know that there's no end to that relationship. We're still keeping our fingers crossed that she'll be back!”
Schilling also took time to address the relationship of character’s Piper and Alex, saying:
"Alex is one of the great loves of Piper's life, if not the great love, and I think that anytime you have a bond like that it never really ends. It continues to play out it's like the layers of an onion. I'm curious also to see where the writers take that relationship."
