The 50 Shades of Grey movie upset a lot fans when news of the cast was revealed. Christian Grey will be portrayed by Charlie Hunnam, and Dakota Johnson will be Anastasia Steele. While a lot of fans are angry, Ian Somerhalder is not. We’ve got your latest update on the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, and why Ian chose now to speak up.
50 Shades of Grey was destined to cause controversy. The studio, however, could have never guessed that the most controversial decision made would be the casting.
EL James made the announcement via her official Twitter account. Immediately after the revelation, fans expressed exactly how upset they were on social media clients like Facebook and Twitter.
One person who didn’t join in on the hate was Ian Somerhalder, who expressed interest in the part of Christian Grey. He sat down recently with Huff Po and told the hosts that he was too busy working to care:
"I'm on a TV show that shoots 10 months a year. It's so funny, you read these blogs: 'Ian Somerhalder angry, livid he's not Christian Grey' -- I mean, no, no, no, there's none of that."
Of course, Ian happens to find himself in the minority. Take this user’s post for example:
“Charlie is not what many of the fans would have wanted, and that’s sadly going to hurt the movie! When it was announced that an old-looking blond man was playing the role, E.L. James lost a movie fan in me.”
