In a rather surprising twist, the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Rangers last night in a critical game in hostile territory. This is unprecedented in the Jays history as "Before Sunday's Game 3 win over the Rangers, the Blue Jays had never won a postseason elimination game." Starting on the mound for the Jays is R.A. Dickey with 3.91 ERA. The Jays are trying to make sure David Price gets the rest he needs rather than have him start again too early. If the Jays can keep up a good batting average, they should be able to score quite well against the Rangers' Derek Holland. The Jays are expected to win tonight's game.
The Texas Rangers will be starting Derek Holland on the mound as mentioned previously. With an ERA of 4.91, he'll need to pitch a very good game to knock the Jays out of the playoffs. Adrian Beltre (3B) will not be showing for the Rangers in tonight's game due to a back injury in Game 1; Hanser Alberto will be at that spot instead. If the Rangers want to win the series, they'll need to pick up the batting pace. According to one sports analyst, "The Rangers might lead the ALDS two games to one, but it's highly unlikely they're going to win it with the heart of their lineup hitting a collective .111 with no home runs and two RBIs." Unless they do, this game (and possibly the series) will go to the Toronto Blue Jays.
