Tonight is the night! The premiere of the long awaited Avengers spin-off is coming to television. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is just a few hours away and we are here to help you sort through all of the news, and help you take on the villain Graviton. SPOILERS BELOW.
Geeks everywhere rejoice. The highly anticipated spin-off of the Marvel cinematic universe is on its way. As you may know by now, everyone's favorite agent, Phil Coulson (Greg Clark), is alive and well after meeting his supposed fate at the hands of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) on the helicarrier.
The big question on everyones minds is, how? The show addresses those questions early on but, like with any good spy series, we might not be getting the full story. Clark recently spoke with the New York Post, saying:
“Phil Coulson knows exactly what happened on the heli-carrier and the way that Director Fury used it to direct The Avengers. What’s clear is there’s a whole lot more to the story than that. I absolutely believe that’s [a story line] that will become something. "
Speaking of story lines, Director Writer apparently has a few things already mapped out for the rest of the ensemble as well. In a recon video released by Marvel, actress Elizabeth Henstridge says:
"[Joss Whedon's] got an arc of every single character, and he's got so many places that he wants them all to go, and he's got loads of back stories for them. It's so nice to work with someone that's so invested in that way. All the team is like that. They really care about the characters, and every now and again you'll get a tidbit of, 'So, a few years down the line this might happen.'"
In other series news, it has been confirmed that the villain Graviton will appear. The news broke In the official synopsis for and an episode titled "The Asset," airing on Oct 8, that read:
"When the brilliant scientist, Dr. Franklin Hall, is kidnapped, Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. agents must race against the clock to locate him. Skye is their only way in -- pushing the team to their limits when the entire plan turns upside-down."
Dr. Franklin Hall is the alter ego of super villain Graviton. If he will have his powers or not is still to be seen but the use of the words "upside-down" seem to suggest he might. As his name infers, he can control gravitational forces.
