Gwyneth Paltrow took a fair amount of heat last week after her reckless driving put her daughter Apple at risk of being injured or killed. The actress pulled out in front of a bus on a Vespa, with her child in tow. Luckily, no one got hurt. Now, some questionable comments made in recent interviews have some wondering if the 41-year-old is able to handle parenthood. The mother of two has talked an awful lot recently about pregnancy, mood swings, postpartum depression and yelling at her son.
There is no doubt that Paltrow loves her kids. If there is one thing that she likes talking about more than herself, it's her children. However, Paltrow's openness has lead to some criticism over her parenting. In a recent chat with OMG! Insider, the actress revealed that the pressures of fame and family are starting to get to her:
"I'm always pulling out my hair. I always fall short, and this morning, I yelled at my son because he didn't put his shoes on and you know ... I think sometimes it looks a lot smoother than it actually is."
Paltrow admitted in a recent interview with Marie Claire, that it's getting harder and harder to juggle parenting and her career:
“Last night, I was talking about that with my husband: it gets more complicated. The problems are getting more serious and I notice that they need me more now than even when they were very little. My daughter, for example, who is super-intelligent, asks me [tough] questions! I feel I have to constantly be by her side.”
She also revealed to the magazine that she suffered from postpartum depression, after she was asked if she wanted more kids:
“I would love to, but I don’t know if I could start changing nappies again. Also, when my son was born I had terrible depression. It was strange because with my eldest it didn’t happen, I was super-happy. But with Moses it took me a year to get out of the hole.”
We wish Paltrow and her family all the best at balancing things in the future.
