Lifetime is busy promoting their new original movie, House of Versace, which has a quickly approaching air date. The film also boasts a star studded cast which includes Raquel Welch and Thor’s Colm Feore. The main role of Donatella Versace will be played by Gina Gershon.
Lifetime really wants you to watch House of Versace. But if you’re a fan of Project Runway, then you are well aware of this fact. During last night’s episode, they plugged the flick during every commercial break.
The film, which premieres at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, is based heavily on the novel, House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival. The book, written by Wall Street Journal’s Deborah Ball, focuses on Donatella.
Specifically, it traces her actions following the murder of her brother--Gianni Versace. After his death, it was Donatella who was left to run his fashion empire.
For a while there, things were a bit rocky, Dona became addicted to hard drugs and almost lost it all. If it wasn’t for her family stepping in and demanding she enter rehab, the fashion darling could have bankrupted the brand...or, worse yet...died.
If you can’t get enough designer dish, then stay tuned for the 10:00 p.m. hour. Lifetime will be airing a documentary entitled Versace: Beyond the Headline. This film will focus on Gianni and his entrance into the word of fashion.
